2025 THEME: THE POWER OF UNITY

San Francisco has always held a special place in the world. As both the birthplace of the United Nations and a diverse, multicultural city, unity is a core value that San Francisco holds dear. Building on our proud history, this year’s theme for SFMUN is “The Power of Unity.” Throughout the past iterations of the SFMUN conference, thousands of passionate delegates have collaborated to pass dozens of resolutions and find common ground on some of the most contentious global issues. 

At a time when the United States and the world seem increasingly divided on topics from climate change to territorial boundaries, we want to remind delegates that we have more in common than we think. SFMUN seeks to foster connections between diverse groups of young people and show how important it is to work together and seek a sense of understanding. After all, that is the overall purpose of Model United Nations. As we open session on the ninth iteration of the San Francisco Model United Nations Conference, we look forward to seeing the thoughtful discussions and lively debates that will occur in committee.
